The Source & The Cistern

Jeremiah 2:13-18

I. They Left the Source
Sin #1 - The people left God, the "fountain of living water"

II. They Began to Search
Since they left the source, they had to search for another temporary source (Egypt & Assyria)

III. They Abandoned the Cistern
Sin #2 - While they were gone, their cistern would become dry and crack - therefore holding no water.

IV. They Became Slaves & Servants
Since they were constantly leaving, they became slaves to "other" sources of water - denying the true source - God.

The Prayer of Ezra

Ezra 9:1-15

I. The Shame of Sin

Ezra was ashamed for the Children of Israel and the sin they had committed. Are we ashamed of our sin? To be ashamed we must admit we have something to be ashamed of.

II. The Grace of God

Why was Ezra angry? Because as he prayed he began to remember all the good things God had done for the Children of Israel. How God gave them deliverance and safe passage. How God brought them out of slavery.

III. The Closing Questions

Ezra struggled with the questions of: Do we continue to sin? And if so, how angry would God be? And what hope do we have?

The Month...

Ha. Last post I said 11 days was a long time not to post, well this post will make the first one in 19 days, so I guess 11 doesn't seem as bad. I also noticed that this post will take us through 31 days so far. So much changes with time...

In the latest installment of time, alot has happened that has tried to shake me, my wife and the church to the core. Most notably, our Pastor's son died in a car wreck. It was sudden, unexpected and a blow to all of us. We have also started our VBS, with revival the week after.

It has been busy and shows no signs of slowing. God has seen us through so far, and I have no reason to doubt that he will carry/lead us on. I am fully expecting God to do mighty works in our church, with land, buildings and souls saved.

Keeping my head up, my prayers daily and my hope in Christ.
